Summer House Designed With A Pool On Its Roof Can Be As Open Or As Closed As The Homeowner Desires

Many of us dream about a summer house by the sea; a place where we can while away the long, sun-kissed days in comfort while reestablishing a much-needed connection with nature. Anti Reality, an imaginative page which blurs the lines between art and architecture, has visualized a perfect concept of just such a place.

The standout feature of the aptly named ‘Summer House’ is the roof. Inverted into a concave form, it creates a basin that is just perfect for a pool, so you can relax with a glass of something and watch the sunset over the sea.

The pool is accessed by a ladder on the exterior of the house, which is designed to be perched on the edge of a cliff.

“My goal was to create a reverse version of a roof that can be adapted as a swimming pool,” Anti Reality explained. “The roof structure is supported by 3 cores, two of them are kitchen and bathroom, and this is where I was planning to adapt drainage pipes. It’s very idealistic but this is a logic behind the concept.”

The panoramic windows wrap around the cores, creating a light and bright interior that lets the outside world in. This was one of the most important points behind the concept. The ‘cores’ can be opened or closed depending on the level of privacy the occupants desire at any particular time.

“One of the key design intents was to create a building that would be completely open to the surroundings, providing the possibility to observe and engage in direct contact with nature,” Anti Reality explained.
“The Summer House has been designed with seasonal recreation and weekends outside the city in mind.”

Anti Reality has several futuristic and imaginative designs, visualizing a world of limitless opportunities for architecture. We can only hope that some ambitious engineers begin to take note!

Woman with a birthmark covering her back and stomach reveals she no longer listens to bullies, after years of abuse over ‘dalmatian’ skin

Yulianna Yussef spent her childhood and teenage years being bullied over her birthmark

A WOMAN with a birthmark covering most of her back and tummy has turned her life around after refusing to listen to bullies.

Yulianna Yussef, who lives in Warsaw, Poland spent her childhood and teenage years inundated with nasty comments, which resulted in her only leaving the house after dark.

Speaking to the Mirror Online, Yulianna revealed she’d been a “carefree and happy” child until the age of eight.

But as she grew older, bullies made nasty comments and even parents would stop their children playing with Yulianna in case her birthmark (also known as Congenital Melanocytic Nevus or CNN) was “contagious”.

The 25-year-old revealed how one day at the age of 15, she went to the beach with her friend – a trip which resulted in Yulianna spending the rest of the summer indoors, only leaving the house when it was dark.

“Some old woman come to me with her advice on how to remove my ‘warts’, some waitresses in the cafe said unkind words to me. Lots of things like this happened that morning,” she explained.

Israel’s Newest Airport Is a Futuristic Desert Mirage

white building surrounded by desert
Designed by Amir Mann-Ami Shinar Architects in partnership with Moshe Zur Architects, Israel’s newest airport is one for the 21st century.

Founded in 1948, Israel is a relatively new country. But you wouldn’t know it after flying into one of its airports. For more than a half century, the country’s airports have stood in contrast to many other parts of the country. Which is to say, they were rather outdated. Yet that’s no longer the case, as Israel’s newest airport, Ilan and Asaf Ramon International Airport, is a modern edifice that stands in stark contrast to its vast desert surroundings.

The new airport—which was named after Israeli astronaut Ilan Ramon (who died in the 2003 Space Shuttle Columbia disaster) and his son Asaf, an Israeli Air Force pilot (who died during a training exercise)—is a $473.5 million structure that’s slated to begin operations this winter. As many can imagine, designing and building an airport is a particularly difficult challenge. Architects are tasked with designing a space like no other in the sense that it’s meant to serve some of the largest vessels of transportation in the world, all while allowing the easy flow of thousands, if not millions of passengers each year. (It’s expected to eventually handle 4.25 million passengers annually.) Yet due to its location, this particular structure was all the more difficult. “The objective was how not to compete with the overwhelming emptiness of the site,” says Asaf Mann of Amir Mann-Ami Shinar Architects, the firm responsible for designing the complex in partnership with Moshe Zur Architects. The airport is located just north of Eilat, a city that anchors Israel’s southern border. In other words the airport is geographically closer to the borders of Jordan, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia than it is to Jerusalem or Tel Aviv to the north.

An aerial view of the airport’s rooftop shows how the architects created central patios, which will bring light to the building’s core without overheating the space.

Designing a public space within the harsh climates of a desert tested the limits of what an architecture firm could do in accomplishing its task. “Due to the extreme climate, construction would, at times, begin after sunset, where we would use projectors to light the area,” Mann explains. In fact, so difficult was the environment that the team had to mix the concrete on-site within massive iceboxes to properly allow the concrete to dry once applied to a surface.

A close-up shows the intricate details that went into designing the air traffic control station of the airport.

What makes this airport so different from most others in the world is not only its location but also the fact that much of the technical infrastructure was buried underground. This includes the area through which both public and private vehicles travel to drop off and park. Furthermore, baggage handling, security processes, and other technical operations are located dozens of feet below ground. This allows for much of the logistical work to be done underground, opening the ground level to provide uninterrupted views of the dramatic desert expanse all around.

white structure with palm trees in the desert
The team of architects included white aluminum panels to reflect light away from the building, further reducing the building temperature.

Since much of an airport’s design is implemented for the passengers’ benefit, the architects needed to concoct a way to bring in natural sunlight without overheating the interiors from the desert sun. “Due to the heat, we did not use skylights in the design, which is a typical solution for allowing natural light into an airport terminal,” says Mann. “Instead, we penetrated the space with two central patios, essentially bringing light to the building’s core without overheating the space.” What’s more, the team raised the exterior cladding atop the building by roughly 15 to 20 centimeters to create a gap that allowed air to more freely move over the structure and cool it down. “We also added white aluminum panels to the exterior to help reflect light away from the building, further reducing the building temperature.”

A look inside the airport shows a sleekly designed space that’s free of clutter, which typically adds to passenger confusion.

For those who fly into Israel’s new Ilan and Asaf Ramon International Airport, they will see what the country hopes to accomplish in the 21st century: a forward-thinking approach to living within the confines of a harsh desert.

China’s epic horizontal skyscraper The Crystal will be tallest in the world and opens soon

CHINA will soon be home to a whopping horizontal skyscraper. The quirky piece of architecture, known as The Crystal, will be the highest sky bridge in the world when it opens later this year, as part of a new district in Chongqing Cit

Travellers to China will soon be able to step inside a stunning horizontal skyscraper hailed an “engineering marvel”. The eye-catching building, dubbed The Crystal, is part of the long-awaited Raffles City Chongqing project in Chongqing City. It is designed into a connecting skybridge amid the eight other skyscraper towers and will be the highest of its kind in the world. The jaw-dropping structure will span across the top of four skyscraper buildings, rising to 60ft tall and 820 feet in the air.

Meanwhile, the wider complex will house hotels, restaurants and shops in the unorthodox design.

It will also include offices and private homes.

The epic project, designed by architect Moshe Safdie, is close to completion.

Visitors will also be able to soak up the sights of the city in a special viewing gallery, as well as sky gardens and an infinity pool.

At nighttime, the cityscape will glow with a beaming light sent out from the structure.

Meanwhile, the associated Raffles City Chongqing complex is a resort of its own, with a 230,000 square metre shopping mall.

Developers have confirmed they are now focussing on the interiors of the structures.

The elaborate designs and adornments are expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2019.

The overall ethos of the district’s design was inspired by that of traditional Chinese sailing vessels.

It marks a nod to Chongqing’s strong heritage as a trading centre.

See China’s groundbreaking $4.8B “horizontal skyscraper”

The project, designed by Moshe Safdie, is the biggest and one of the tallest sky bridges in the world.

China is nearing completion of a new architectural landmark. The building is actually four distinct skyscrapers rising above the city of Chongqing. But what makes the project truly impressive is a 1,000 foot steel and glass sky bridge that connects them all, filled with trees, lagoons, observation decks, shops, and restaurants. Its developers call it “The Crystal.”

Construction on the bridge was completed this week, when massive cranes lifted the last steel piece and secured it in place some 850 feet in the air. Before we get into the details, take a moment to check out the scale of the structure compared to a person:

Designed by Israeli-Canadian architectMoshe Safdie, the structure echoes the architect’s famous $5.7 billion “SkyPark” at the Marina Bay Sands in Singapore, which was completed in 2010 and takes a similar approach to connecting independent skyscrapers with a bridge of entertainment and recreation spaces.

However, the Crystal is fully covered by a glass vault that, according to the developers, was inspired by old sailing ships. It’s an apt reference, since the project is situated at the confluence of the Yangtze and Jialing rivers in central China.

Though it’s situated 850 feet above the street, the Crystal isn’t the tallest skybridge in the world. That honor goes to the Kingdom Centre in Saudi Arabia, whose 300-ton bridge floats 992 feet above ground. Still, Safdie’s Crystal is in some ways more impressive than other well known sky bridges–both because it links more towers than any other, and because its construction makes it more akin to a distinct skyscraper than a simple connecting bridge.

In other words, the Crystal is the complex’s fifth skyscraper, albeit a horizontal one. To get an idea of just how complicated the process of building it was, you can watch the prefab steel segments being hoisted into place below.

“The great opportunities with these building types are the unexpected new vantage points found to view the city, and the further integration of the public realm into the high levels of a building,” Safdie’s firm writes on its website. The Crystal acts “not only as a connector, but as a fully programmed horizontal structure complete with internal streets, building program and gardens.”

Similarly to Safdie’s SkyPark, the Crystal is part of a larger development called Raffles City Chongqing, a 12-million-square-foot complex composed of eight skyscrapers that will contain a 2.5-million-square-foot mall, 1.6 million square feet of office space, and 1,400 residential apartments. The building is expected to be complete and operative in the second half of 2019.

Madea Dies, Tyler Perry Says Farewell To Beloved Character At “Family Funeral” Premiere

After 13 years and 10 films, Tyler Perry is finally retiring Madea, the character he’s been playing ever since he created her in 1999, long before she went on to anchor her own series of films. That’s almost two decades of the same character, so it’s hardly a surprise that Perry actually sounds more than ready to say goodbye to the role. At least, that’s what he’s saying now.

Madea was first introduced to the world through Tyler Perry’s film Diary of A Mad Black Woman. From there we got 11 instalments of movies that explored the beloved character and her hardcore, tough love ways. Monday night was the official premiere of A Madea Family Funeral, which is the last film that will feature Madea.

“I don’t want to be her age playing her, so it was time to shut it down and move on,” Tyler told The Hollywood Reporter when discussing the character coming to an end. “I’ve got some other things I want to do, and in this next 50, I’m going to do something different.”

On the topic of killing Madea off, Tyler explained how that simply wasn’t an option. “It’s always going to be open-ended because what you don’t want to do is murder a family member,” he explained. “And a lot of people feel like she’s a family member.”

KJ Smith, who’s starred in Madea films spoke of the farewell and how she’ll miss “the comedy of it all.”

“I’m from the South, and Madea reminds me of several black mothers and grandmothers and great-grandmothers that I grew up with, so I’m going to miss that representation on film,” she said.

Young Nigerian boy set to blow after drawing a picture of Kevin Hart and he saw it! See his response

A pencil drawing of Kevin Hart by a Nigerian hyper-realist artist identified as Eli Waduba Yusuf, has gotten the attention of the American comic actor.
The man had posted a pencil drawing of Kevin Hart on twitter and asked his followers to help re-post until it gets the attention of the popular comic actor and interestingly, just moments ago, the actor confirmed seeing the drawing and promised to buy it off.
He even promised to buy 3 more for his celebrity friends.

Then Kevin Hart responded: “I see it and I want to purchase it…I also want to support you and your amazing talent by giving you a fee to do a pencil drawing of 3 of my celebrity friends that I can gift it to. DM your info and let’s get to work!”

Talking about young Nigerians putting their talent to good use, recall the story of the female carpentar that trended not long ago

A young lady identified as Olabisi has done something remarkable. She ventured into carpentry since this recession has affected every sector of the nation. The intriguing thing about this young lady was that she taught herself carpentry by watching YouTube videos and reading free online books about it. This is a sharp contrast to what other ladies her age will do with the smart devices they carry about. Rather than downloading songs and uploading pictures of herself, she has decided to invest in herself. She remained dedicated as focused hard on her dream of making money through carpentry.

Olabisi has started reaping the fruits of her labour as she has started earning some cool cash as a carpenter. The young Nigerian lady is enjoying the process as she is able to do something different. If all the young women in the society can shed off their layers of pride and focus on something worthwhile, the country will record tremendous growth in every facet.

Here is what she had to say concerning her decision to tread where few ladies dared;
”So about a week ago, I started my self-carpentry training..waow!thanks to YouTube and the free carpentry books online. I had actually thought it’s going to be an easy ride but eish….it’s not been easy and neither is it as difficult as I was told it would be.

Whether I succeed or fail is inconsequential, I am open enough to take the risk to fail. No pressure. No quest for instant gratification. No immediate result needed. For me, its all about enjoying the process.”

The rapper and singer have previously expressed admiration for each other before.

In October 2018, Adele went to one of Drake’s performances at LA’s Staples Center during his “Aubrey and the Three Migos” tour. Adele complimented the rapper in a tweet after the show.

“Oiii Champagne Papi blew my mind tonight!” she wrote. “Best production I’ve ever seen hands down and way up there with one of my favorite shows of all time. Huge love.”

Drake later shared a screenshot of Adele’s tweet on his Instagram and freaked out over her attendance.
